UPDATE: I responded to some questions, you can find them on, Reply #34 (link below) You can draw your own conclusions.ĮDIT: add additional info regarding Malwarebytes and remove some salty language ![]() I only did it to find out if Avast was stopping the update. I do not condone uninstalling any AntiVirus product as I did. If yours did not, your antivirus is most likely getting in the way. Security tools downloads - avast Internet Security by AVAST Software a.s and many more programs are available for instant and free download. It was ready as of yesterday, your computer should have already downloaded and installed it. MS has no vested interest in putting people in a queue for this particular update. If you received an error message from Avast which states Cant Connect, Cant Update, then click on My Computer, go. No issues with that software preventing the update. I removed Avast from one of them and guess what - after rebooting the system (required to complete the uninstall of Avast) - UPDATES began immediately.Īnd for those with Malwarebytes installed as well (I have it on all my PC's), the computer I mention here has Malwarebytes installed and running before, during and after deleting Avast. So, I take issue with your confidence that Avast is compatible! ![]() I also ran Malwarebytes but it came up with nothing.Still not getting the Win10 patches for this security issue - on every PC I have Avast installed on. And I began to think it may be an infected file so I ran windows defender which didn't come up with anything, except those three items which were quarantined but were invisible so I don't know where abouts they are,or if I should worry about the warning pop ups I received. I have since uninstalled Avast but all the problems have remained behind. The main issue has been that it has blocked all access to the Internet, then my PC doesn't boot up normally as it did before and it hangs midway and requires me to come back and press F1. The first surprise was that Defender blocked my efforts to install Avast saying 'this is a malicious file' - so I went via this website to what I thought was Avast web page (still think it was) but ever since I downloaded Avast free version I have had nothing but problems! Now in the days of old, it was always a safe bet to go to /CNET to download free programs as they could almost guarantee the stuff was clean. I like Chome browser and read that Avast was the best option with this browser. ![]() I wasn't aware that Windows Defender was part of the package and so I went to look for an antivirus program. Then when that was up and running I went to install an antivirus. I have a desktop PC and recently installed windows10 OS ![]()
